Enjoyed a fantastic dinner at Carmen's in Beach Haven. Since their tagline is unique beach cuisine, we tried Carmen's figs as an appetizer, with a perfect grilled veal chop as a main course. Everything was terrific including the service and personal-touch with frequent check ins by co owner JoAnn. Carmen's Figs are a Gourmet treat consisting of California figs topped with triple cream brie cheese, candied pecans and a drop of balsamic reduction, served with mango wrapped in prosciutto.

I’m having a difficult time coming up with fresh superlatives to describe how good our meals have been. Last year I wrote, “Anytime you get fresh, sweet oysters, steamed shrimp, lox, crab legs, plus seafood crepes and rare roast beef along with the expected assortment on the buffet table you move from excellent to extraordinary.” Nothing has changed. This Mother’s Day everybody including our 5 year old grandson had a great brunch and a good time. For those who think value is important, I would agree; but it takes second place to the meal and the service. At Carmen’s my experience suggests the food is, and has been, perfect every time. The service is always attentive and efficient, and all of the above comes at a reasonable cost. That’s pretty much the definition of a great value in a restaurant. You would think it should be easy to find a great meal, excellent service and good value on Long Beach Island – a summer vacation spot second to none – but unfortunately that isn’t the case. Carmen’s is the exception – because in my opinion, the place is exceptional. A word about the owners – I noted during our meal that both husband and wife made it a point to circulate among their customers; doing their best to ensure a good time was had by all. Carmen's did my Son's wedding on Sept. 20, 2015. Everything was delicious and everyone raved about the food. Joann and Peter are wonderful to work with. We also had the rehearsal luncheon at Carmen's and Peter made wonderful suggestions the food was completely different from what we were having at the wedding. The dishes were unique and everyone raved about the food. Peter and Joann make you feel like family. I was so relaxed knowing that they were taking care of everything. Thank you again for making Albie and Nicole's wedding a memorable day.

Enjoyed an evening at Carmen's. The food was excellent, the atmosphere inviting and the service was authentically warm . Enjoyed a selection from the Sunset menu which included a generously portioned delicious Calamari appetizer followed by the main course of Tempura Fried Cod Fillet with gourmet mashed potatoes, fresh green and baby carrots. The desert that followed, a homemade cookie bowl ala mode was more than delicious. My wife enjoyed a delicious Caesar salad followed by the Shrimp and Chicken in a sun dried tomato white wine sauce and finished up with the same desert as I. BYOB and enjoy the best gourmet food and personalized service on the Island second to none.
